Abstract
Aging is not a phenomenon exclusive to modern societies, it has been present in all stages of social development and has always been of interest to philosophy, art and medicine. However, during the past century, we are witnessing a unique situation: more and more people have passed the beginning of what man has called the stage of old age and the privilege of some has been transformed into an opportunity for many; This made the aging population a challenge for modern societies. It would suffice to point out that from the beginning of human history until the beginning of the 20th century, human beings achieved an average lifespan of 47 years and from then until today this average increased by almost 30 years and is considered one of the achievements. most important of humanity.
